GSM Project – Gerris Smart Mobility

Goals

The GSM – Gerris Smart Mobility project, supported by the P.R. FESR Liguria 2021-2027, represents an innovation in the maritime technology sector. Its goal is to design, develop, and test a new type of innovative boat, capable of significantly decrease environmental impact both during use and over its entire life cycle.

The heart of this innovation is a patented multi-purpose hull, configured as a hybrid hydrofoil catamaran with an interchangeable and retractable propulsion system. The combination of electric propulsion, the option for hydrogen fuel, and an optimized hydrodynamic design aims to optimize efficiency, comfort, and sustainability. This marks a paradigm shift in the circular economy and the protection of the marine ecosystem.

Detra’s role in this project

Detra Srl plays a crucial role in the design, optimization, and building of propellers, using advanced technologies and expertise to ensure:

  • Optimized propulsive efficiency, thanks to innovative blade shapes, advanced profiles, and extremely precise dimensional tolerances.
  • Reduced environmental impact, minimizing noise, turbulence, and vibrations to protect the marine ecosystem.
